You may want to double check on your friendly Sears.  They do tend to carry wide shoes for children and it is my experience that they are not as expensive as in other stores.

I always had to go to Stride Rite for my son who had VERY wide feet.  The cost a little bit more, but when it is the only place that carries the size needed for growing feet it's worth it.

If you have a Thom McCann's arround, they are almost as good as Stride Rite. The shoes may be more expensive than Payless, etc., but your baby is learning to walk and needs to be properly fitted with good shoes. Later, you can buy the cheapies if you need to. By the way, grandma's LOVE to help pay for things like this!

Payless. Sometimes you can get lucky at Walmart, too. If you really feel like going sporty or expensive, New Balance offers some great wide widths in all sizes and widths.

Shoe Carnival and Target both carry wide sizes for that age!! As she gets older try New Balance or Nike for athletic shoes, they are the only ones that are comfortable on my daughter who has wide feet!

Stride Rite. They are pricey but you only need one everyday pair and I think they are key for early walkers. They are pros at measuring and fitting the shoes appropriately as children are trying to develop their motor skills. For the first year I always bought one pair of Stride Rites for everyday and then a few additional pairs of "fancy/special" shoes from anywhere - Target/Childrens Place/Gap - to match outfits (in the same size as the Stride Rites).

stride rite, best place for wide shoes. My daughter had the same problem. Journeys kids has alot of different brands, try on a few. Some fit better than others. She ended up with nike shox. good luck.

Stride Rite. If you go to an actual Stride Rite store (as opposed to a dept. store that carries them), they will fit your child's foot to find exactly the right fit/size. If you're worried about price, go to their store, get fitted, then try eBay.

Stride Rite has a great selection of wide shoes that are very stylish and practical for dress and daycare

Payless is where I've bought my son's shoes.  They aren't too expensive and the clerk (at mine anyway) doesn't mind measuring his foot.  I've been in other shoe stores and had the clerk get this "oh no" look when I asked them to measure my son's foot.

Definitely Stride Rite. I have never shopped for my boys (both have wide feet) anywhere else.

Stride Rite! My sister-in-law suggested Stride-Rite for my son who has wide feet as well! My niece has wide feet and she said those shoes fit her so well!
