I am 28 and a newly single mom of 3 boys. I had my first child as a teenager and have had the stress of a bad marriage, financial crisis, health issues, etc. I refuse to make any excuses for not being more responsible in my past choices and I'd like to get a better handle on my future. I've worked numerous jobs and I would like to have a stable career doing something I know I would excel in, like teaching. The problem is I don't have much of a support system or very msny resources on how to begin! I have graduated from high school over 10 years ago and I've felt intimidated by the financial aid and grant processing I'm confused. I'd like to speak with a financial advisor at a community college in my city, but I'm not sure if they could help me receive any grants specifically designed for single mothers, is there a (non-confusing) site I can go to just to get a general idea of what my options are? I just don't know where to begin and I'm aware that my anxiety is due to low self confidence and lack of support. Help!
