I sometimes feel uneasy when I meet someone new (female or male) and I tell them, I am an at home mom. I get funnly looks because I have adult children. How should I feel?

I'm in a grocery store and a person starts a conversation with me and lifestyle becomes part of the conversation, then children become a part of the conversation then first shock that I am the age that I am, because I look young and then shame because I am an at home mom, even though my kids are young adults. I never really had any friends who had my lifestyle so sometimes I feel isolated. This was an issue when I was younger and is now even more of an issue now that I'm an older mother. So many people that I meet don't seem to be able to relate. Does anyone else have this problem and or solutions? Thanks
