I thought girls were easy to potty train!

My 2 year and 4 month old daughter refuses to sit on the potty by crying and screaming but she can tell me that she needs a new diaper (after the fact). I'm starting to think that the pull-ups are hindering rather than helping, as they are just like diapers and don't seem to bother her when she is wet.

I do have twin 8 month old boys at home and realize that I am so tired and busy and haven't really given her the potty time routine that she needs. Any tips would be greatly appreciated? I'm thinking of going straight to big girl panties since at least she would feel the wetness?

If she fight too much, maybe you can delay 2 weeks or so. Hopefully she will forget about this experience and start anew. Take a deep breath and relax a bit. My son acted exactly the same as your daughter when he was 2.5 years old. Turns out that he was scared of the potty. He was scared to sit in a place with a big hole. I bribed my son with different snack that he like. Sometime it work, sometime not. Potty training can take time, but they will eventually get there.

I agree that she probably isn't ready yet. The more you force it the longer it will take. Let her lead the potty training and it will go smoothly.

Forcing the issue is not going to help. She may not be ready as yet. A lot of kids are not ready until the age of three. Even if they can tell you they need changed. And you are right. I was a young mother when pullups were first invented. All they are is a glorified version of a diaper and do not help in the training of kids to go potty. Toss them out or use them up and get her training pants with either diaper covers or plastic/vinyal pants to help keep the leeks at a minimum....she is going to notice the wet pants more than the wet pullups.
