So, i would like to start my 11 mo on formula milk only for her last meal before she sleeps. But i've got no idea which meal should i give her formula.

So this is her sleeping pattern.
8.30pm - i usually nurse her to sleep.
12am - she wakes up to nurse, falls asleep immediately after.
3am - wakes up to nurse, falls asleep immediately after.
6am - wakes up to nurse, sometimes falls back asleep, sometimes wakes for the day.
8am - wakes up for the day.

So should i formula feed her at the 8.30pm slot or 12am slot? I'm hoping with formula she'll be able to sttn and if she wakes up any other time, i'll give her water instead to discourage her from waking.

Thanks!

It will take a while for her to get out of the habit of falling asleep feeding. She needs to learn how to fall asleep on her own.
Do you give her a dummy/pacifier? That can help as she will still be sucking.

I would give her one at 8:30. When she wakes up in the early morning, try and get her back to sleep without feeding her (even giving her water).

I would love to, and its clear to me she's not ready to wean. the problem is, I have to start night work in 1 month, I work according to US timing and i'm in Singapore. So while the rest are asleep I work. In the day, i'll be with her. So technically, I will not be with her to nurse her at all. =(

Formula isn't likely to make her sleep any better. In a baby used to breast milk it can actually make sleeping worse. Waking twice a night (12 and 3) is still quite normal at her age. Heck, my son didn't sleep through the night til he was 2 and before that he would nurse 1-5 times... in a 10-11 hour night! He slept through (w/ a little gentle encouragement) when HE was ready and so will your daughter.

The fact that she freaked out for 2 hours straight is the only way she has to tell you that she is not ready for what you are trying to get her to do. Why not just nurse her back to sleep and make both of your nights more peaceful?

Yea, she takes the pacifier. she just wanted to latch so she threw fits whenever i tried to put anything in her. but oh well, she will eventually sleep though, i guess its more hard on me than her. Thanks!

I gave her FM at 8.30pm last night, she took it well and went to sleep with a little coaxing. but she woke up raging at 1.30am and cried so hard till 3.30am. Water or FM made her cry even worst, she eventually cried herself to sleep. It was so hard, but i didn't whip out to latch her.
