Ideas for natural consequences

We are trying this new tactic of not reminding our 8 year old daughter constatntly to do things that she supposedly "forgets" to do in order to help her develop some responsibility and time management.

So, if she doesnt come in time for dinner, it's cold.

If she doesnt get ready for school, she misses her bus.

If she doesnt get ready for bed, she loses reading time.

If she takes forever to eat dinner, she's at the table alone and misses out on playing in the evening before bedtime.

But I need some ideas for other things.

What is a natural consequence for chewing with her mouth open? Leaving her coat on the floor? Not brushing her teeth?

Not everything is so clear cut, and I need some ideas!

about leaving the coat on the floor:

My mom was very picky about people leaving things on the stairs, probably because my sister and I liked to play with our stuffed toys there and then run off and do something else. If she found something there (a toy, a mitten, etc) whoever left it would have to pay her a quarter per item. (we didn't get regular allowances, so this was a big deal)

Every once in a while, she'd leave her purse on the stairs, much to our delight, and would pay a quarter to whoever found it.

It's not exactly a natural consequence, but it worked well for her. We definitely got the message.

Do you ask her to do these things or is she just expected to know when to do them? If the latter, that's a heck of a lot for an 8 year old to manage without any reminders.

Chewing with mouth open, she eats alone in the kitchen. No one wants to watch food get chewed up, it's gross and the family shouldn't have to be exposed to that while they're politely eating their meal.
