I am breastfeeding my 4 month old, but it seems like every week the amount changes. She feeds every 3 to 4 hours, except at night she will sleep 8 hours. I am taking Fenugreek and it has its moments when it works. I dont want to lose my milk! Does anyone have any ideas to help me produce more? Thanks a lot for your help.

That's fine. A baby's bowel movements can range from one every nappy to once a fortnight - all normal.

Then I wouldn't worry about your supply. Like I said, if she's gaining weight and wetting diapers regularly she's getting enough milk which means your supply is fine.

The more you stress about it the harder nursing gets! Try to relax. :)

Why do you think you're losing your supply? If your baby is gaining weight and having enough wet diapers throughout the day then she's getting enough milk. Don't pay attention to what you get from a pump. Your baby is a much more efficient pump.

i had the same problem, i wouldn't produce enough milk to keep up, what i did was between feeding i would pump what i did have and by the time my son wanted to feed again i would have plenty, it seemed like the more i pumped and feed the more milk i had, i did at first occasionally have to bottle feed the pumped milk but adventually it all worked out.

Thank you ladies. Its different with this child then my first cause i worked full time with him and nursed until he was 9 months and I now stay at home with her. so from knowing how much you produce to not knowing is different. Did either of your childern take a few days before a bm? my daughter averages 1 to 2 bm pure week, but doc stays she is fine.

i agree with Kate Capehart, but i was merely just saying what i did, and she is correct about the diaper thing to.

the only times i pump is when she has gone to bed early and i have stayed up. when i would wake up in the mornings i can sometimes pump from one side for storage and feed her when she wakes up off the other. now i am having to feed her on both in am, but again it fluxuates. she is gaining weight fine, average of 2lbs each month.
