My son is 1month old and 4oz of formula does not sustain him for any more than 2hours, sometimes 1 hour. Can cereal in small amts help?

Good question. Some kids eat more often when they are little like that. My son was that way. He nursed every 1.5 hours until we discovered I wasn't making enough milk to feed him. Even on formula, he still ate frequently. It is normal for some children to nurse or feed on formula quite often even every 2 hours. Using cereal for an infant this age is not recommended because their stomachs and systems are not yet ready for food. They can not digest it yet and it could cause some allergies and other feeding issues later on.

Evelyn is correct, starting cereal at this age is not recommended. Are you sure he is hungry, and not just fussy or tired? Is he giving you other cues to indicate he's hungry?
