If a 65 old mother wants to evict her 37 year old son what she needs to do?

This is a very dear friend of mine, her husband past away last year, she has a son that is 37 and have never left home, never help with rent or food, he is a drug addict he got worse when her husband past, she recently bought a car and he key the door, she has her house for sale to move to were her daughter and grandkids live ( they are good) He also move his girl friend in they both don't work and don't pay for nothing, she has call the police and they told her that they can't do anything, any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you so much Dove and Michelle, she is coming to visit this weekend and I'll let her know, her daughter is been telling her the same thing, I understand is her son, but he has to go, thank you so very much and have a Merry Christmas

I agree with Dove, she needs to see a lawyer and get an eviction notice drawn up and served to him. Once that date has passed then she can get the police involved.
Hopefully her house sells soon and she can move and he'll have to move out.

The police should have been able to tell her the legal process for an eviction... or a lawyer can answer that question. She needs to serve him w/ an eviction notice in writing (and save a dated copy), but the rest of the process of how long it takes and when the police can remove him... would be something she needs to ask about in her specific area... from a professional.
