He shouldn't be drinking whole milk at this age. Infants tummies are not designed to be able to break down the proteins in whole milk in the way that they can digest the proteins in breastmilk and formula. You could potentially be setting your child up for a lifetime of digestive problems if his tummy isn't ready. This is why the recommendation is 12 months, because by 12 months of age, pretty much all babies have a sufficiently developed digestive system to cope with it.
Secondly, cow's milk actually DEPLETES iron from the body, so not only is your child not getting much needed iron from the milk, it is depleting any iron he is getting from his foods.
Under the age of 12 months, the MAIN source of nutrients should be coming from their formula or breastmilk. So in order to ensure your baby is getting the balance he needs, you need to wait a while longer before cow's milk becomes his main source of milk.

i have been told by many friends and family members that he would be fine on "cow's milk" and regular food. i want to keep him on formula and just try to give him whole milk little by little until he is one i just wanted to hear from other mothers and see what there opinion was on the topic of giving a baby whole milk before he/she turns one.
