If you put your child up for adoption, you signed paperwork. If, in your agreement, you have an 'open' adoption, you can contact the child. If not, you cannot.

However, I doubt if you can 'get her back'. You entered into a legal agreement with the people adopting the child.

Ok, so was there actual paperwork done for an adoption by your family members? If they 'don't want to deal' with her any more, are you in a situation now that you'd be able to care for her adequately?

I'd say, if no paperwork was done, she should be able to come back to you. If there was, I'd speak with an attorney to see if you have the option of regaining custody in the event that she'd be removed from their custody, or surrendered to the state.

Good luck

Well, then I'd definitely pursue it, Denisha.

Check with a family attorney if formal paperwork was done. If not, and the other family member doesn't want to handle her anymore, then encourage her to come to your home.
