I'm a single mom. Which can make finding a trust worthy sitter almost impossible. I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. So I'm naturally very protective when it comes to my son. I don't trust daycare center's. Am I the only mom that feels this way? Advice please:)

I think you really need to see someone about your irrational fear of having others look after your child. It's not healthy for either of you.
What's going to happen when he goes to school?
In reply to this comment "But in my mind just looking up background info on a person isn't enough to know what future decisions they may make", who knows what future decisions they are going to make themselves, let alone when they are being interviewed for a job?
If you are wanting to go to work to support your child then you will need to trust someone to look after him. Child care centres aren't that bad, you have to find the right one for you though. Don't believe that all the centres are the same as the bad ones on the news, they aren't!!!!

Yea you are right about that Sarah. E. But in my mind just looking up background info on a person isn't enough to know what future decisions they may make. Also many people don't like the job they work at. So I feel that a person could become frusterated with the job, especially dealing with young screaming children and do things out of anger. I agree it isn't fun to live in fear but I only have one baby boy. I won't ever have him again if something were to happen. So I'm very selective on who stays with him alone. Its a risky thing to put something of the most importance to you in the hands of a stranger, you know?

I am sure there are many mothers that have trust issues. With today's technology you can carefully check references and background of anyone. Living in fear is not fun for either of you.
