he also doesn't initiate play much but she says kids to ask him to play. im know im probably overly analyzing. I wouldn't say hes at the top of his class but hes doing well according to the first part of the year evaluation we saw at conferences. hes just very apprehensive.

Sounds like he has a proactive teacher. That's a good thing. There's no reason to freak out. If his academics and behavior are good he's already ahead of the game compared to quite a few K kids. He may just need sometime to warm up to the situation or it could just be that he has a quieter/shyer personality... or maybe he could benefit from some extra help and confidence boosting.

An observation is just that... an observation. If you are unsure about the results of that observation you can always ask for a second opinion or seek an outside counseling resource to compare and go from there.

My five yr old son just a started k1 and is doing well academically and behavior wise good also. He is very shy and quiet at school and he is going to be observed in his class room in a couple of weeks and im just trying not to freak out! The one concern the teacher has mentioned that he sometimes needs a few prompts to do a direction but I know he can hear hes very observant and has a very good memory and she not sure if hes worried about making a mistake or what. but she wants to just make sure shes not missing anything and just have him observed.
