My son is 18 months he just started breaking out in hives last sunday. Took him to the ER they told me there nothing they can do for hives but give him meds. They gave him Diphenhist(benadry) & Prednisolone. I been giving him it like i should for 5 days now and they come & go & firm in different spots on his body. What i notice is that when u put tight pance/shirt on he git them worse. Also when i see them i would use Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream on were i see the hives i put the Cream & they go away for awhile but still come back a couple hrs later. R them harmful? Can a child die from these????

Hives are a response to some sort of allergen. They can come back over and over for weeks, without the child being re-exposed to the allergen. You may in fact never know what the initial trigger was that caused them to start. As long as he can breathe and shows no signs of hives on his lips or mouth, he is likely going to be fine. They may come back it bath time, bed time, when he scratches himself or like you describe a tight waist band. Try not, to worry, keep him in soft loose clothing. If he is itchy, give the benadryl as recommended, otherwise leave them alone.
