in queensland there is noone to help/ All i want is for them to be in Rehab not jail. I cant beleive there is no drug court. In australia the prisons are filling up with drug addicts who are only hurting themselves and family. It is a disease and they should not be treated like criminals if they are not dealing or robbing people for there addiction. What can we do to save them from themselves. I'm at my wits end.

Um, an intervention can be done by anyone. I am in Australia, and I am pretty sure that if I had a family member who needed intervention, it could be arranged. If family and friends say they have enough problems of their own and have no interest in holding an intervention, then that's just sad. But as a parent, if you know your child has a problem, then it is your job to help guide them in the right direction. Throwing your hands up and saying "there is not such thing in Australia as an intervention" is a cop out.

When it comes down to it, if your child is being charged with drug use, then they created this issue, not the legal system. The fact is, they broke the law. They ARE criminals. I believe many prisons have access to drug rehabilitation units.

Families have no say and rehabs only take people who apply for themselves. There is nothing to help a family member get someone else into rehab.

Maybe it is up to their families to get them into rehab BEFORE they get charged and into the court system.
