Incontinence during period?

Anyone else have this problem?

I had my baby almost 4 months ago and have been doing Kegels religiously, and finally got to the point where I could do my morning workouts without wearing a panty liner for bladder control.

I just got my first period, since having my baby, this week, and all the sudden I can't make it through my workout without peeing myself! Is this normal??

Unfortunately yes, especially during your period, primarily because the hormones you release when having your period help loosen things up in there.
My doc said it can take up to 18 months before things go back to normal bladder-wise and if it continues past that then they have to look at whether the urethra was stretched too much during birth. If that is the case there are a few things they can do, the most invasive of which is a bladder loop repair - what it does is it lifts up the urethra into its normal position and then they put a little stitch loop there to hold it in place and voila! no more incontinence.
My oldest daughter is 3 and my youngest is 20 months and I still have problems with stress incontinence (I had really rough births with both of them, plus they are only 19 months apart) so my doc is looking at surgical repair options since the kegels and everything else I've tried have not worked.
