Hello everybody,

We started learning English and I wanted to ask what books you read to your children and what films you show. My children are quite fast in learning words and phrases and it would be definitely more itneresting for them if they could try and read or watch something authentically British. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much! What films do you watch? I am going to start with the disney series for the children learning English but there a re definitely something every English speaking child knows and likes to watch or read.

My mom read us "The Little Princess" when I was 9 and my sister was 6. We loved it. And it's British!

I second the Chronicles of Narnia, too. British again! Lots of great kids books are British. I've never been to the UK, and I have a very peculiar idea of it in my head... it's all boarding schools and magical adventures! :)

I can think of two book serires that your children may like. First one that popped in my head is not British, but American - The Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The other one would be the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. These are not contemporary series by any means, but I think that they're still good. I'm actually waiting for my two boys to get to the right age so they can read them (or I'll read the books to them as part of family story time).
