Not a question about kids... I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Invisalign and whether your experience was positive or not? Also want to know whether you found it painful?

I am currently a 40 yr old half way thru treatment and LOVE it!!!!!
I have a little discomfort the 1st day when switching into a new set but nothing bad enough to take anything for.
I love how no one notices them unless they see me take them out to eat which is fantastic that you don't have to change what you eat due to being removeable.

I have a lot of movement happening in the front and it is going along pretty fast - quicker then my sister with braces and no poking wires, etc......

Good Luck!!!!

Well rebuilt teeth are ok, but they feel weird. I still don't trust the one I have. The gum? or the post? feels "spongy". I dunno if thats the right description or not.

All this said I've been putting off a final cavity and the second half of a root canal for MONTHS. My new dentist is a great guy but month after month of mouth pain, blood, meds gawd help me - I just couldn't face it any more and cancelled my appointments.

As for the 800 dollar crown, I had a tooth in front snap off so they put a post in it and rebuild a temp crown on it. To put a real porcalin crown on, they wanna charge 800 bucks for one tooth. It's insane.

They won't pull the remaining real teeth at all because of the jaw thing... I'm too young they say.

Do you mean implants? My dentists aren't thrilled about giving me an implant either. What about dentures?

They won't give me false teeth though. I tried. 3 different dentists said they wouldn't do it because it causes premature osteoporosis of the jaw.... But they wouldn't have any trouble charging me 800 bucks for one crown.... Probably why I've had a temp crown for almost 10 years. lol

Ouch. That maybe the best way to go. I'm going to spare you my dental horror story - ask EVERYONE who they like & why and go with the best one!!

Ya. It's all the dental work that would have to be done before the braces that would kill me... I have over $10,000 worth of work done on my mouth as a teen just patching holes and repairing breaks and my teeth STILL suck. I've had to have 7 teeth pulled so far and I still worry about eating anything crunchy or chewy because they still break. I think it'll be cheaper for me to get them all pulled and go false.

here - regular braces are $3000 to $4000 and Invisalign are $1000 more. a lot of orthodontists have payment plans - really - what are you going to do? finish it yourself at home? LOL. They can count on you to come back!

I'm gonna regret asking this but how expensive are they? I'll never be able to afford insurance but I sure would like to dream of having a nice smile....

LOL of course at Disney. They must have had better things to be concerned about then taking care of their VERY expensive belongings. Thanks again for the info, its very helpful in my decision making! :)

LOL well the dentist is happy. I am too really. I'm just a bit bitter right now because both boys lost their dental appliances while we were at Disney.

Thanks. I expect it to be painful, just hoping its not the entire time. A day or 2 sounds reasonable. How are you liking the progress your son is making?

Both will make your mouth sore. You can't get away from that. Braces & Invisalign move your teeth through your gums. It hurts. But for both - generally only for a day or two. I had braces when I was 13 or 14 and my son has invisalign. I HATE having to hunt down his damn trays.

Thank-you for your response. I'm considering getting it instead of braces. I've heard mixed things about it, but my main concern was weather or not its painful. Don't want to spend my time with my 5 month old with a sore mouth all the time :)

I had braces when I was 14-17 and instead of a retainer I got invisalign. I didn't find it painful, but i do grind my teeth at night, and your supposed to wear them all through the night. I found I ground holes through the plastic. Theyre ok.
