Is 3 months old too young to sleep in crib in nursery?

My baby was sleeping in the crib since she was brought home from the hospital. And she's 3 months old now and she's just fine in the crib. I would suggest getting a baby monitor if you feel uneasy about her sleeping in another room. They're very inexpensive.

I think the earlier you put your baby in his or her own bedroom the better. I don't think putting a 3 month old in a crib is wrong but would advice that if there are bars that you cover them with a soft/padded cloth so he/she can't get their arms or legs through if they move about a lot.

Not at all! both my boys were in their own rooms from 8 weeks old. This made for much better night sleeps for all concerned. baby monitors are so good these days that, with the volume turned up, you can hear the baby better then if they were in the same room!

i kept my daughter in the bassinet in our room till she outgrew it, then moved her into the cot in her room from then on, was about 3 mths if i recall..
i dont think there is a right or wrong... just make sure her feet are as close to the bottom of the mattress as possible so you havent got her too far up where she can wriggle under blankets.

my son is 3 months old and I am going to begin the transition soon as well. he sleeps in a bassinet right next to me currently and is sleeping through the night (usually about 10-6) and has been for 5-6 weeks now. mostly its me that is nervous about him being down the hall, but we have a video baby moniter so hopefully that will help. So if both you and your baby are ready for it than go for it :)

April Mathis, If she is breastfeeding her baby might have a growth spurt or be a cluster feeder which would result in nursing often. Like every hour or so. It is healthiest to nurse more often and less at a time because this keeps the stomach small and prevents obesity. So it really isnt that unusual for little ones to nurse that often and be just fine.

We put both of our kids in the crib from birth on unless they were sick. We have always had the same bedtime routine and they know when it is time to go to their beds. Some times we do miss it if we are out late or if they stay the night with someone but if we read them a book they still know it is bedtime. This is not to say we never had night it is hard to put them to bed but we just stick the routine.

With my first son he slep in a bassinet till he was around 4 months old but i was such a nervous new mom that we put his crib up in our room until he was around 9 months but that was all on me (i had a huge fear of SIDS). If your as nervous as I was I'd get one of those baby moniters that have the tv so you can watch the baby. My second child is now 3 months old and where in the process of putting him in his own room.

My baby girl slept in her crib in the nursery when she was about 3 months old. No problems with her. I guess it helped that we have a baby monitor with movement sensor. I looked after her every couple of hours at the beginning to make sure she is alright and not too hot/cold. But every baby is different, I would just try it out :)
I had a bassinet that came with my pack and play. The bassinet label read that it was good for up to 3 months so I set up Kaylee's crib at 2 1/2 months. It was hard for me at first and still is, always checking up on her because I was so worried that she would spit up and choke. But my bassinet was elevated and I have heard that they have a foam elevation pad. I have a regular monitor right now but wish I had a video one so I could see her without getting out of bed and possibly disturbing her. I have crib bumpers all around the crib which makes me feel better. I also recommend getting a mobile, which she loves and helps her fall asleep. I also had a futon in her room from age birth until recently. That helped alot as well for when I wanted to sleep in the same room as her. Even though my room is right next to hers, I feel safer leaving the monitor on in my room as well. Hope this helps

I don't see a problem with it. I put my son at 3 months in the crib because at the time I had to go back to work and my mom stayed for 2 weeks to watch him and he did just fine. The only think I did was elevate the crib mattress but now they have those foam things I dont know the name of them but you can lay them between and it is elevated and they can sleep in it. I haven't used one yet but have seen them. Just a suggestion. But it is always up to you on what you want to do. :)

Hi Jamie, I may be biased but I think thats a load of ###*. I have 23 mth old twins who both slept in cots from birth. I don't really see the difference; as long as you don't put anything extra in there that they can smother themselves with.
They are still on a flat mattress with nothing surrounding them and just a wrap or other to keep them covered and warm.
I never had my boys in the same room as me from the time I brought them home, they make too much noise and I'm a light sleeper, I would have never got any sleep listening to them.
Now they are fantastic sleepers, they don't need me to settle them because they are used to doing it themselves and are used to being in their own room.
I say do it if that's what you want.

I don't think so all 4 of my kids where in there cot at around 6 weeks if not earlier, they did not fit in the bassinet and they sleeped through the nigh. But everone is different. Just go with what you feel is right for you and your baby.

My daughter started sleeping in her crib (in my room next to my bed) right from day one. Just make sure you dont have anything that is a choking hazard ,next to the baby ,in the crib - like a blanket ,soft toy etc. Some babies start using their hands much earlier and may pull these stuff over their face and will not be able to breathe.Baby monitor is a great device if the nursery is setup in a separate room.

Any age is fine to put the baby in the crib. It is whatever you feel comfortable with. With my first three I had them in the crib early on. But with my fourth, well he's three months old and I can't bear to put him in the other room. It is so different this time, I don't know why.

No Way! We had our son in his crib on his second night home. He is now 3 months old and we have a set schedule every night. He is in his swing by 8pm and in his crib by 9. He does great with it and sleeps until about 5 or 6am almost every night.

Of course not. Like some have said, move them when YOUR comfortable with it. My daughter was 6 or 7 weeks when we moved her to the crib in her room. We kept the bassinet in our room for if we needed it, but other than a couple early mornings when she didn't wanna stay asleep she stayed in the crib. The reasons we moved her were because she was sleeping through the night and my incision was healed enough for me to get to her room easily.

Both of my sons were sleeping in a crib from the day they came home from the hospital. But, I had the crib in my room until they were about 6 months old just because it was alot easier to breastfeed when they would wake up at night. It is different for all parents and babies..whatever feels right to you!

I put my baby boy in his own room in his own bed at about 7 weeks old. He did fine. and i heard every move he made. He was my second, the first one slept in the same room with us in her own bed and then ended up sleeping with me until she was 5 !! I learned the hard way !! oh, and you dont have to do what others say do, do what you feel is best.

I would have loved my baby to have slept beside me in a bassinet until she was 1! However, she outgrew the bassinet at 3 months so I HAD to put her in her crib in her own room. I just made sure the baby monitor was on beside me and I could hear every noise she made. This made the transition so much easier for me. And I must say that she has been sleeping (and so have I) so much better since the move. Sometimes, babies need more room to spread out. Controlled crying also worked for my older children . . . . I had to put up with 3 sleepless nights and after that they were awesome . . . and still are 10-12 years on.
All the Best

I put all three of my children in a crib by this time. Even when I brought them home they always took a nap in their crib during the day and then slep in the bassinet during the night time. I hope this helps relieve your fears!

There's no perfect age to put your baby into a cot. Most people tend to keep their newborns in their room until they are sleeping reasonable stretches at night. My daughter slept 6hrs from birth and up to 8hrs by a month old, so I moved her to her cot then. I had intended on co-sleeping but she hated it.
