hi Susan

I lost my first son in the battle with leukemia. He was diagnosed with the cancer at 11months  and passed away 10 days before his second birthday. I know that the not knowing and the 'what if's" are difficult - but treasure everyday you have with you precious child and be positive even when things are not going so well and half your battle will be won..... I think that it's fantastic that she is doing so well and I will definitely keep you both in my prayers... ps. Kayla is very lucky to have you for a mom.

My nephew was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL) when he was 2. He will be 5 next month and is doing amazing. He is in full remission and is going to school. It was hard in the beginning for my sister and brother in law, but now you would never know that he was really sick at one point. His doctors and hospital have all been so wonderful. If I can answer any questions for you, please let me know.

Christine :)

Also, since my nephew has been diagnosed both my sister and I have become very involved with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They are wonderful. They offer support and fundraising. My sister has run 2 half marathons with the society and I ran the half marathon with her last year. They are a great group of people to get involved with.

Good morning I just want to say a few words to support you parents going through this road called hell. Let me start by saysing my son was 10 when we found out he had ALL and AML. That is 2 different kinds of Lukemia. We had treatments for 10 months then a bone marrow transplant..After that he was healthy till every moms nightmare came true. It was all back. So 10 months later I lost my son. But there is a side to all this ,that helps me everyday. It is all the amazing lessons my son taught me while he was sick. What an amazing boy I had. I am the proudest mother alive. We are all onthis earth for a reason, he just finished his fast...Crazy kid!!! My story ends on a sad note for many. But I look at it as , at least I had him in body for 13 years and in my heart forever.Better then never having him at all. So please keep your chins up hight, very high, them your children as if everyday is your last..Also I will always be there for anyone who needs to talk, vent what ever, this is one of the gifts my son has given me, I can deal with it and help others..Thanks for reading my story...Cindy

Strange how much we have in common, but that's what I am here for. Kayla is 20 months into treatment and is scheduled to finish in October.

The most important thing is to fight the cancer right now and deal with late effects.. we are already seeing them in our daughter.. she is not a year off of treatment.. but she is here ... and that is what matters. I have a friend who had Leukemia 25 years ago.. she has 3 healthy children.. inspiration

I personally don't have a child with Leukemia. However in 1980 my sister was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She is now 35 and has 2 healthy children of her own. So there is hope. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. It's very hard dealing with it now.

Thanks for your reply. It's mostly the future that worries me. She is doing very well right now.

I do not personally have a child with cancer but my nephew was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 4 it was real tough but after all the traetments and kemo even a bone marrow transfer but I can gladly say he is now 15 going on 16 and he is doing great he evens plays football which we never thought we woyld ever see him do that so don't let  the bad times get you down just stay strong pray alot and your child will be a cancer survivor too.. god bless and good luck!

I will keep your daughter in my prayers.  If you ever need to talk, vent, or, just want someone to listen, I know what you are going through.  I know it's not easy, but we keep pushing forward don't we?  I saw that you have a another daughter named Ava, that's my daughters name too!  Not to mention she is 2 1/2 as well.  Strange isn't it?

That seems like such a long time for treatment.  How is she doing with all of it?  She looks like a very strong little girl.

So sorry to hear that. Your baby is too cute, by the way.
Kayla was diagnosed in June 2007 and is still undergoing treatment (until October 2009)

I have a two year old daughter that has cancer.  It's not leukemia, she has Rhabdomyosarcoma.  We are in treatment right now and she will have chemo until the end of August.  Is this something new or have you been dealing with this for awhile?
