Is anyone else missing their firstborn?

My daughter started kindergarten this year, something she is loving. And I just gave birth to my son three days ago. But I'm feeling some really mixed emotions right now. I love my son, and know he is a blessing but at the same time I miss it being just my little girl and me. I don't have the time to just sit and read with her or brush her hair or have her brush mine. Mornings getting ready for school are rushed and hurried because I also have to deal with baby brother. Does anyone else feel this way? Or have felt this? How do I get around it? Or through it? Or whatever? Thanks to all.

Sweetheart, if you are 3 days post partum, I don't think you should be pondering your emotions too much. Your hormones have taken them hostage and what seems like the end of the world today will be a bit of a drag in a few months. You'll get there. :)

I don't know how that feels as my first borns are twins, so I've never had REAL one on one time w/ any of my kids.

Now that I'm a single mom of 3 (girls are 9.75, son is 3.5).... one on one time TOTALLY doesn't exist. I will say though that sometimes when my mom is visiting she will watch my son and one of the girls while I go on a 'date' w/ the other girl. I know your son is a newborn right now, so that might be near impossible.... but maybe a story together while he naps or put him in the stroller and take a walk w/ her. The good part about newborns is that they sleep a lot (hopefully), so one on one time might be easier to find NOW than in about 6-8 months. ;)

Hang in there! I first became a single mom when my girls were 6 and my son was just born, so life was CRAZY for a while. It DOES settle down some though.

I didn't have time to feel this. My first two are barely 18mo's apart. So sorry I have no idea how this feels. However, I do feel for you.
