Is anyone raising a twice exceptional or 2E child? Please give your advice on how to help them. What is the best educational setting for them (public, private, charter, homeschool)? How do I help them as a parent? How do you explain your 2E child to your family and get their support?

your 'gifted' kid is the same as a 'normal' kid. He just processes information and interacts in a different manner.

As such, your expectations of behaviour should not change, his fit in school is going to be the same as every other child. What works for one may not work for another. One 'gifted' student may excel in advanced courses in a private institution, while the one next to him (gifted as well) will struggle. A charter school may fit for some, but not others. Some do well mainstreamed in the public system, others don't. Homeschooling offers a different set of challenges, but it also requires that the parent have an abundance of patience and knowledge on their own, and again, will not fit for each kid.

How you 'explain' the kid is the same way you 'explain' the habits that your 'normal' kid would have, to the extent that you wish to.
