My son is 9 months old and I have been giving him half formula half cow milk only for a week. I just read that its dangerous but my mom started me and my 4 brothers on milk at that age. I'm out of formula and broke. I have milk and I will have formula by tomorrow.

well Put it this way.. I gave cows milk to my son when he was 6 months old and it never hurt him. I used to put it in the bottle and then put kerosyrup in it. It helped him to not to get constipated. they say if you give cows milk to a baby, then it causes them to get brain damage . If that were true, then my son would have already had it and he's almost 16 now.

I got him some formula. The milk was making it hard for him to go to the bathroom and I really didn't want to give it to him I was just stuck. Wic does not give me enough formula to get threw the month. Thank you all for your advice it was very much appreciated!

It depends on the child really, some babies are ok with it and some babies suffer terribly. Ideally you wouldn't introduce it until after one.
In fact there are some schools of thought that believe cow's milk isn't good for human beings in general.

Yes, it can be. There are studies to suggest that not only is there insufficient iron in cows milk for your baby, it has recently been found that it can absorb and DEPLETE what iron stores are still in your child's body or your child's iron intake from other areas, and your baby could potentially suffer iron deficiency. No, it doesn't happen to all babies, but why would you take the risk knowing that it could?

Many babies also struggle to break down the proteins in cows milk, their stomachs just can't process it properly and they miss out on any nutrients. By the age of one, most babies stomachs are able to handle it. But you don't know if your baby is one of those ones who's stomach is sufficiently developed, so......again, why risk it?

My mum carried me home from the hospital in her lap in the passenger seat of the car. I thought that was dangerous too, but I'm ok........does that make it a good idea?

I think it's dangerous for some babies, like to the point where they'll get diarrhea and dehydrate and die. (it happened to one of my aunts when my grandmother got very sick when her daughter was 2 months old) Other babies seem to be fine with it. Back in the day they used to boil the milk first and then give it to babies when breastfeeding wasn't working. I think goats milk is much easier on the stomach, but in my opinion, since they have formula now it's better to stick to that until a year.
