Hi Meeta,

Farex is a good food to start introducing food to your baby. Yes it is not a replacement but it is a good introduction, particularly for babies who are ready and are showing an interest. There is a bit of a debate about the age the age that you can start introducing solids/thicker substances other than milk) but most health agencies suggest around 6 months. It depends on the baby but I started introducing farex to both of my children at 5 months and they loved it. Iron fortified products such as Farex are suggested also as around 6 months babies are a little low in iron. I thought this website was helpful: http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2...(1)_babies

In addition to what Julianne said... even when solids are introduced they are not supposed to replace breast milk or formula feeding until around a year. Solids are just an addition to the milk diet at first.... not a replacement.
