Do you think it is a good idea for you to fear your loved ones? No. A child should feel loved, but at the same time learn the rules. Kids don't need to fear parents, they need to respect and love them. They need to feel like they can come to you for anything, and if they fear you...they won't come to you for FEAR they will get in trouble.

How old is your child? If the child is misbehaving and you raise your voice to them, that is understandable. Sure it will probably scare the kid for a short time. But, if you're yelling a lot and the kid is scared of you ALL the time, then you might have some anger issues and need to find a way to calm down before dealing with your misbehaving child.

Children should feel that their parents love them. It's not good to be afraid of your mom.

It's also good to save yelling for when you really need it. If you don't yell often your child is more likely to pay attention and understand that a situation is dangerous when you do yell. Save yelling for emergencies.
