Is having siblings a better environment for children/teens?

I am asking for an opinion - is having a sibling or even another child (cousin, step-sibling,etc) who lives in the same household as the child a better environment to grow up in or being an only kid? My daughter has always been an only child in her life and she'd love to have another kid in the house. So, is it a LESS better environment to grow up an only child with two parents?

Honestly, it depends on the home and family. If there are a ton of siblings, but little love, then a child can suffer. If there's no siblings, but a ton of love and development...

It really depends on the situation and circumstances.

I don't think so, as long as the only child has ample opportunity to spend time with peers. There are many couples who would love more than one, but one is what they are blessed with and the one turns out just fine. It comes down to the parenting. A child with many siblings may certain skills at negotiating while an only child may be great at self entertaining and taking initiative.
