We researched safest cities and Groveland made the list with its location it quickly became exactly where we wanted to move. But then during our research we found Florida at a top ten list of Most Racist States. Now I'm sad because I don't know if its safe to move there. My family consist of me being Puerto Rican (light olive skin) & my husband being Native American & German ( light caramel color) but to anyone at first look they would assume he's black, I did :-)
Our children all look mixed with light skin.
Does anyone who lives near or around Groveland know whether this is true or not??
This would help us so much. Thank you!!!

Groveland, Florida is infamous (famous in a bad way) for its hideously racist history. See Wikepedia for horrible lynching episodes in the 1940s.That said, Florida in general was the most racist of southern states during the Jim Crow era - from the 1880s through the 1950s. This included public hangings, burnings and shootings of African Americans. The "stand your ground" law as well as Republican efforts to bar African Americans from voting, are the reincarnations of the state's awful prejudice. I don't live in Florida, just know about it.,
