My son potty trained himself in diapers, so it wasn't hard at all. The 'hardest' thing about it was convincing him that it was OK to NOT wear diapers. lol And that didn't happen until he had been fully day and night trained for a month. ;)

I actually didn't DO anything other than ask him if he wanted to go and help him if he said yes. He did spend a lot of time w/ his cousin who is only 11 months older and we've always kept our bathroom door open, so he was around the process a LOT... but I left the 'training' 100% up to him.

How old is he? Do you have a potty seat? Depending on his age, go to the store with him and have him pick out his seat. Also underwear that he can choose. Maybe start reading him a potty training book first and get him excited about it. Read it daily. Have him sit on the potty. I trained my son to sit for pee and poop, and once he mastered it, we taught him how to pee standing up. Never scold him for having an accident. Tell him its ok. When he does pee or poop on the potty, reward him with lots of encouragement, and something like stickers, or a favorite candy. I liked having them naked all day without a diaper, and only a diaper at night. It worked really well for me.

I have a boy and a girl. I found they were equal in difficulty. Not to bad really but neither sex was more of a challenge than the other.
