is it legal for a teacher to ask a child if they've taken their medication in front of the whole class?

Personal Health Information (PHI). It was said to a classmate in front of the whole class on more than one occasion. I've already spoken to the teacher and principal and the teacher said she was "imagining things". She has bi-polar disorder and ad/hd and is scared that her PHI will be revealed. There is such a negative stereotype associated with this disorder. She doesn't want to return to school because she no longer trusts her teachers/aids.

But, you just said the teacher said it in front of the whole class. So....which is it? Did the teacher say it to her friend or up in front of the class.

What is PHI? Well, then I am guessing her friend told her about it? Sometimes kids cannot be reliable when they did not hear it with their own ears. But that would not make me any less concerned. Talk to the teacher or principal about this. That is your best course of action.

PS - She's 12 years old. It wasn't said to her, it was said to another student. Now she's TERRIFIED her PHI may be revealed as well.

I don't know if it is legal or not, but sure as shit it isn't right. Have you talked with the teacher since then?? Telling her from now on to take your son aside instead of embarrassing him in front of his peers? What an asshat.
