is it normal that my eleven year old hasn't started her period yet

I did not get my period until I was 13. My sister in law did not get hers till she was 16. She got married at 21 and has 6 healthy kids. If your daughter is otherwise healthy I would not worry about it. Or you could see a doctor to make sure she is healthy.

Actually, it is a myth that girls are getting their periods any earlier these days. They are showing signs of PUBERTY earlier, but not actually menstruating any earlier than in the past. That's a myth. It has ALWAYS varied girl to girl. There were girls getting theirs at 8 or 9 when I was young, and that was 35 years ago.....

Girls are reaching puberty sooner apparently due to all the growth hormones in our foods and the antibiotics. The onset of puberty should only be in your teens but because of so many endocrine influences now it varies greatly from girl to girl.
