Absolutely do not give water to baby. You can use a few drops of saline to each nostril and suck out mucus with a nasal aspirator. Put a humidifier in the bedroom and prop one end of the bed up so baby's head is a little higher than his feet. This way, gravity can help things drain in the right direction and not pool in the back of his throat.

I agree with Jodi, dont ever do it without asking your doctor. Go to the doctor to get your child checked up.

Never give an infant water without medical advice. Babies can get water intoxication from a very small amount of water, so generally don't need it, as they get enough in their formula or breastmilk (which is 80% water), but if your child is sick, talk to your doctor.
