Some babies are not bothered by a small bit. Other babies can't tolerate any.

I 'believe' I've heard that a cup of coffee a day is 'typically' fine. I, personally, can't handle caffeine myself anyway.

I drink coffe reguarly and I am fully breastfeeding my 6 mth old. I probably drink 3-4 cups a day on average plus soda and tea and occasionally chocolate. My breastfeeding counsler said it would be fine for me to continue my regular habbits as long as no alchol or anything like that. My daughter isn't bothered by it at all. She sleeps all night, takes several small naps throughout the day and is a very happy baby, not fussy at all. I think it probably depends alot on what you were eating and drinking while you were pregnant and what your baby is used to from birth. I would not go drink a 5 hour energy or some kind of caffine loaded energy drink, but I think caffine is great in most cases.

In the first few moths it effected both of my kids so I limited my coffee to the afternoon while they were napping. After a couple of months it no longer bothered them so I resumed to my normal coffee intake.

I'm with Dove - my first pregnancy I had to switch to herbal teas - as I felt too sick from the caffeine ... but in this last one, I found that two cups of tea a day were fine, but my body craved juice and water more. Listen to your body - if it's too much, you'll feel really off!
