I am 38 years old and come from a multicultural family, I have 5 siblings and 4 of then are mixed Caucasian and black. I am white and my sister and I have the same mom different dads. I only knew my sisters dad as my own till I was 11. Some may call me stupid but I was two when my parents got together. Kids only know what we teach them so color was never an issue in our house. I was raised this way but the other day I made a comment while caring for a family and said I love mixed babies! My boss told me they took it offensively as a racial remark! She also said she believed it was one! I don't agree growing up in the family I have I felt it was a love and adoration comment! However I am open to others opinions as I never want to feel the way I felt or apparently made my patients feel again! It really hurt my feelings because I even brought up my family and they seemed very receptive!
