When I was that age I went to and returned from school alone or with a group of my friends(I live in NYC). The school was about a 30 minute walk. I really think if depends on your daughter as Evelyn said. If you know her to be able to with stand peer pressure to a reasonable degree then I say she'll be fine. If you're worried about the safety of the neighborhood you live in, then I'd also do as suggested and have her meet you after the movie is finished.

I did. If you know her friends and are comfortable with the group, and you believe you can trust your daughter, then it is time to let go a little bit.

Depends on parents. If you think she can handle going to a movie with her friends and follow rules you set for her while she is there, I do not see why not. I have friends that take their kids to the multiplex to meet friends for a movie and my friends go to another. When all movies are over they meet out front and take the kids home. If you decide to let her go on her own make sure she understands she leaves with no one, she goes to the movie and watches it and waits for you outside the theater or whomever is driving them. If she does not follow said rules then you can tell her she can not go because she broke the rules. Simple as that.
