Please please read the ingredients in Canada dry, don't just focus on if there is real ginger or the caffeine or high fructose, the drink also contains aspartame which is made up of methanol, aspartic acid and phenylalanine. Methanol causes birth defects.... Research is your best friend during pregnancy!!!!

Yes, ginger ale is safe to drink during pregnancy. So is caffeine in small quantities. You can have 1-2 cups of coffee per day (about 3-4 cans of soda) while pregnant. Calories ARE important during pregnancy, but not EMPTY calories. You should be getting a majority of your calories from fats and proteins, NOT sugar. Same thing when you are nursing: lots of fats and protein, not a lot of sugar.

Hi Crystal! As a dental hygienist I can tell you that drinking pop all day long is insanely bad for your teeth! The average can of pop contains 10 grams of sugar!!! Not to mention the acidic content of pop is also very bad for the enamel of your teeth. Also, pop does nothing to hydrate your body. Your ideal choice is water!!! Especially if you are breastfeeding. You really need the water to keep your body hydrated...otherwise you can end up constipated (been there, done that!!). If you don't like water try adding a Crystal Light single every now and then!

She can drink the Diet version if she's concerned about the sugar being on her teeth. Am I the only one here that has heard of Diet pop???

[deleted account]

I understand about wanting ginger ale, because I do drink it when my stomach is upset and it makes me feel better. However, having said that, pop is VERY hard on your bones and teeth and if you are going to drink it, I would suggest moderation. It might be wise to not let it push out other drinks that would beneficial to your bones and your baby like fortified skim milk, or filtered water with a little lemon added for flavor. Agood compromise might be that for every glass of ginger ale, you have a glass of purified water with lemon or some milk or one of the delicious flavored green teas (for the antioxidants).

No/Yes... Yes you can drink it but it's still not healthy pregnant or not lol. Called moderation not all day long :) Pop generally known not to be healthy but it's not going to make you shrivel up and die or affect your baby if you have say one a day hum even two probably won't do nothin' lol. I'd still encourage something more with nutrients in it or less sugar and carbonation... such as water/milk/healthy juices! Think about it ;)

I fill up a pitcher of water, 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger, a few mint leaves, and a lemon and cucumber sliced. Better if chilled overnight. Great flavor, refreshing, and healthly. Sounds like an odd combo, but it is great!

hmm I might have to try that..Thank you.

Well you can, but you won't want to. If you're going to drink it all day long, you may want to get the Diet version. If you consume too much sugar during pregnancy, you have a greater chance of developing Gestational Diabetes, which isn't good for you OR your baby.

Well my doctor said its really unhealthy for the baby to drink diet soad..anything diet is. And also in a collage book i read that they had a bunch of lab rats that they were doing test on they had 5 for diet soda and 5 for rugular soda..well turn out the 5 that drank diet soad dyed and the ones that didn't drink it lived..SO after reading that and learning more about diet soda. I have and never will drank it ever again.

you could drink Canada Dry if you want....or you could fill your body with the demanding increase in calories healthily (although Im 5'10'' and I went from 130lbs to 180lbs but now I'm 120! so I overdid it a little on the calories when I was preggo lol!),

FOR EXAMPLE, a glass of milk or every chocolate milk!! Or a V8 Splash that tastes like Strawberry Banana but has 2 servings of fruit and vegetables! OR a REAL 100% glass of Red and White Grape Juice YUM! Why would people choose HIGH fructose genetically modified corn syrup sugar stuff! OVER all these REAL flavors out there!!??

Regular Soda (or Pop) has TONS of calories!!!! It's all sugar! Read the label and you'll see.

Yes you can drink it. And you can also drink A&W root beer. There are a few caffine free pops out there but just because they are caffine free doenst' mean you should drink them all day long...You should drink more water then anything because there is tons of sugar in pop and CO2 all day is just as bad as caffine.
If you used to drink a lot of pop before you were pregnant and up until you found out you were pregnant, usually 6 weeks along, then you should slowly back off and not stop cold turkey on the pop. It can be harmful if you stop all of a sudden and the baby was used to it. Try cutting it down first and then take yourself off of it.
Congrats on the baby!

Well I try to drink water but everytime i do i throw it up. unless im wicked dehydrated then i can keep it down. witch is always in the middle of the night when i wake to pee and go back to the bedroom and i down half a bottle of water.

I wouldn't, because the one time I drank something carbonated while I was pregnant (it was that horrible disgusting orange stuff they make you drink for the glucose tolerance test), I had heartburn for three days. But that could just be me :P

Canada Dry...have you read the label? does it contain sugar or High Fructose Corn syrup. Genetically modified sugar has been approved here in the US and is now in your food (without needing to be disclosed). High fructose Corn Syrup is contaminated with Mercury, a known neurotoxin (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con...). Perhaps you might want to consider a little lemon in some pure non chlorinated or fluoridated water.

Well i read the label and it says made with real Ginger 100% natural flavors..There is some sugar but not much..Is to much sugar bad?

You should also try Vernors brand. It has a more natural ginger taste and helped with my severe nausea. But do watch out for the SUGAR!!

You CAN drink caffeine, but it should be limited to about 2 cups a day.

It's KILLING me cause I'm a coffee-a-holic and could easily drink 8 cups a day. I've cut down to 2 a day and then decaf tea to get through the rest of the day.

As well, you can drink rootbeer, which is also naturally caffeine free. So is Sprite and 7Up.

Apart from if it has lots of sugar, gingerale is usually fine. I know some people who were told to drink gingerale by their doctor because ginger is supposed to help with morning sickness.
