he was put on formula with rice before being diagnosed with reflux. at his visit today I had asked to talk toa dr about his amount of spit up because I felt it was too much & i was told hes gaining weight so there is no reason for concern, which in turn concerned me more. hes 2ft long and 11lbs. its SO hard to find clothes to fit! luckily I live in FL so i dont have to worry when were home. he stays in diapers & baby Ts. & thank you so much! prayers have become my strength. along with the hundreds iof smiles I get a day from my lil man!

that's good Listen to your mom instincs all three of my littles had Refulx and the oldest had a hard time with her weight she's 5 now and barly 35lbs but her sister who is 3 is now 40lbs and the baby is 20lb at 5 months mostly because we had the same doctor and we decovered the reflux early with the younger two and the doctor had us thicken their bottles with cereal at a very early age (because they aspirated the normal consistency) I hope your new Doctor will help you find the answers you need 11lbs at 4.5 months seems tiny when my little guy hit that a 3 weeks I'll keep your little one in my prayers!

ya know if your worried you should listen to that ask for a second opinion or just take him to see another doctor what he weighed on one of those sliding scales or on one with a digital read? cause sometimes nurses read them differently

he is always weighed naked & they were both about 3hours os so after a feeding, at his 2mth well check he weighed 9lbs 14oz & at his 4mth well check he weighed 10lbs 6oz. now all the sudden Im supposed to believe he went from weighing 11lbs at 1145am one morning & 11lb 10oz by 930 the next morning? Im not sure I believe it. I just dont know where rto turn for answers because the drs stories keep changing, my main concern is keeping his weight up.

My son has laryngomalacia complicated by reflux he was in and out of the hospital and doctors office for the first 4 and half months of his life and a 10oz gain seems a bit but depending on what he had on the time of day and rather or not his nappy was wet I would see big jumps like that and then the next day he'd drop down again. We'd have him weighed on one scale at 9pm when they checked him in and he'd be 14lb (at 2 months) and the next morning they weighted him again and he'd be 13.6lb both times stark naked and then when they weigh him again at night he'd be back up to 14 on the same scale If his doctor isn't worried about it then try to relax you'll both be happier!

Was it a naked weigh? Same time of day? Both times either before or after a feed?

Yeah, 10oz in 24 hours does seem a bit off. My newborn son (3 years ago) gained 12 ounces in 3 days and THAT was a lot....

The amount of urine in the diaper could make several ounces difference.

no. but they were callibrated the same. even if its not the same, the scales couldnt be more than an ounce or two off, right?
