So this is the 1st time i have ever been pregnant i don't really have anyone to ask or tlak to about what im going thru .. The other night around 4 i started to have these really bad cramps i watched my belly tighting up and relexing over and over it lasted for about 3 to 4 hours . I tried walking around the house , taking a warm bath all the stuff they say to do for braxton hicks but nothing worked the cramps became stronger and closer . I tried laying down but my hips hurt so bad i couldn't rest at all i have no idea how to tell the differences or what to think im 36 weeks and 3 days . Help please ?

Try drinking more water, as sometimes dehydration can bring on cramps. Also try laying down on your left side - even if you cannot rest fully, this position is known to be helpful.

If your cramps persist for hours, you should call your doctor or OB-GYN for advice. Don't pass it off as BH without seeking that advice. It most likely IS that, but it's best to be sure.

I was an RN and felt informed on the subject. I got cramps at 28 weeks that weren't particularly painful, weren't regular, didn't get closer together and weren't that frequent (maybe four in an hour at maximum). I convinced myself that it must be BH. After 24 hours, they were still going despite hydration and resting position, so I told myself that next morning (it was past 11pm at this point) I would call my OB. My waters broke at 6am and I ended up with a 28 week newborn only a few days later.
