is it safe to allow my 2week old to sleep on her side

An infant should sleep only on their back for as long as possible, usually until they start rolling over on their own. There is an increase in the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) with babies who sleep on their sides or bellies. There is a whole "Back to Sleep" campaign that has been associated with a significant decrease in the number of babies dying from SIDS. Having infants sleep on their backs is just one of the steps called "risk reduction" for SIDS. Other things include no extra bedding, padding, or stuffed animals in the crib. Additional recommendations include AVOIDING the use of any wedges or other devices that are sold which are meant to keep the baby on their side or in a half side-lying positoin. If you would like additional information on the Back to Sleep campaign, please see the following web site: http://www.nichd.nih.gov/sids/ - this is part of the government's National Institutes of Health.
I hope you find this helpful . . . and take the information from the site seriously!
