Regardless of anything you need to contact your doctor and make them aware of what is going on. When I was pregnant with my twins I started having contractions after about 4 months. Mine turned out okay, I experienced preterm labor multiple times a week, but did carry them until 36 weeks. Thankfully I did have two rounds of the injections to cause their lungs to develop very early on, their was very little complications with them after birth. I think someone else mentioned dehydration in a post. This is a big thing. If you start having contractions lay down and drink a few glass of water, really a few. A lot of the times the first ways the hospital try and stop preterm labor is with IV fluids. Write down when you are having the contractions. They need to be similar in length and in frequency. Regardless of if this is the case I still feel you should contact someone. You need to be sure what you are dealing with and it's nothing to wait on. Good luck and I hope everything goes well.

I went in preterm labor at 28 weeks with my daughter and at 30 weeks with my son. You should call your doctor right away. I ended up on bed rest (in the hospital) with my daughter until I gave birth to her at 35 1/2 weeks. Luckily, with my son I was on bed rest at home. I had him at 36 ½ weeks. The doctors put me on terbutaline to stop the contractions both times. It is possible to postpone your labor, but you need to contact your doctor! There is a swab test that your doctor can do called fetal fibronectin test (fFN) to determine whether or not you are going to deliver preterm. http://pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnancy/ba...
Good luck! I hope this helps.

I forgot to finish my thought! oops
With my daughter I was in preterm labor at 29 weeks, The docs stomped the labor, I received steroids to help her lungs mature faster, and came home on meds to help stop contractions. All 3 of mine are preemies, But call your doctor, lay down and drink lots of fluids. Dehydration can cause cramping and contractions. But please dont delay if you think you are in preterm labor, call the doctor.

You can go into labor at any time, call your doctor and tell them what is going on. They can meet you at the hospital evaluate you and if you are in labor the need to stop it and take precautionary measures to hold labor off as long as possible.
