Is it wrong for me not to allow my 16 year old have Facebook account?

My daughter is 16 and she wants a Facebook account but I don't want her to have one. She doesn't have any other type of social media account. Sometimes her friends ask her to get one but she tells them she doesn't want one. Do you think I am wrong in my decision. I just feel it takes up too much of their time and you never know what kids are posting.

Personally, I think telling a 16 year old they aren't allowed a facebook account is a bit pointless, because if they really want one, they will find a way of getting one. However, given your daughter is the one who says she doesn't want one, then continue to have the discussions as to why you think it is a bad idea. This way you are not outright telling her she isn't allowed, but you are giving her the education to make her own decision about it.
