Hi there my son in 4 months old and all he seems to do is sleep , I'm not quite sure how much he should be sleeping as he is my first baby, he doesn't seem to want to be awake for very long, I've been laying with him on the floor to help him try and roll over but he just seems lazy and whinges to get up and go back to sleep.
Am I just worrying too much ??

Okay thanks so much as I'm a first time mum I do get worried a lot, as long as I know that he's okay and he can do things at different ages I should be fine, well he is a big baby he's 4 month but in 6-9 month clothes xx

Don't worry about the rolling over. My son never really did. He never crawled either. Mile stones are just there to tell parents what they CAN expect, not what they HAVE to expect. He was about 6 weeks when he started sleeping through the night. He was around 4-6 months when he started that schedule. He started walking out of the blue (NEVER crawled, or tried to stand on own) at 14.5 months. He just stood up one day and walked. Every child is so different. He was a big baby, and was growing constantly. He was in 9-12 month cloths at 6 months etc.

Thanks so much for the advice, but how was your son Even thought he slept for that many hours, and how old was he when he did eventually roll over and start playing? Xxx

If you are worried, definitely call your pediatrician. My son was like that, slept all the time. He would wake up between 8-9am, nap at 12-4, then back to bed at 8-9 pm. He was asleep more hours in the day than awake. Babies will also sleep more when they are going through a growth spurt.
