is my daughter showing signs of dyslexia?

my daughter is 5 yrs old and left matter how long we practice she still wants to write her name backwards and she can't seem to write a "d" in her name she keeps doing the letter b...why? could she be showing signs of dyslexia? she was in pre k for 6 months and we practiced with her before she went now she is in kindergarden...what can I do to help..we practice all the time...but she just gets fustrated

No, that sounds pretty normal. My daughter, when she was 4, would write her name backwards and upside down (and when you turned the page upside down her name was perfect). She also always got her 'b' and 'd' mixed up, as well as her 'p' and 'q'.

When they are young, letter recognition is purely shape recognition. In fact, that really is all that recognising letters is - shape recognition. These shapes are very similar. That is the stage she is in right now. It will improve. It isn't necessarily a sign of any problems.
