Is my teen becoming a hermit??

My 14 year old hardly ever comes out of her room. She spends her time online chatting with friends and listening to music. She's a little over weight and hates sports.

Can you suggest activities my family can do to loose weight?

Ive the studies on hermit teens. The problem on your daughter isnt that serious. You can buy a doggy or pes for her and this may help.

I would first of all get the computer out of her room. No 14 year old needs that much privacy. They could be looking at porn, an chatting with people they should not be.

Change your eating habits as a family. No junk food, airpopped popcorn for "junk" snack, and start making healthy fresh cooked food. Avoid fried food, and make sure to have plenty of veggies and fruit.

Go for hikes as a family, kite flying, trip to the mountains to walk the trails and take in nature. I really have no idea where you are so it is difficult giving suggestions. But you will not be able to force her to do a thing.

Have her invite her friends over weekly, make sure she is at least actively participating with them. Just remember, this is a really hard time in a teen agers life. Don't be to over bearing or pry to much. But seriously, all computers should be in community space.
