save the prunes for when the baby needs a good poop...go with rice cereal and mix in a few spoons of fruit pears, peaches, etc...introduce them one at a time in case the baby has an adverse reaction to one...so you will know what it is and can avoid it in the future...

I gave my kid prunes once. Not as a starter, but because we had gone through a lot of other baby food and I was giving her a new taste. After the mess in those diapers.... never did prunes again.

As Brittany said, it might be a bit of a shock to his system. The laxative effects combined with the high sugar content would be rather intense. You could start on rice cereal, many people do. My doctor had us start on avocados and mangos which went down quite well too.

I wouldn't introduce prune anything to a baby. It would cause some major intestinal problems with it being such a laxative.
