Is something else going on besides epilepsy?

My 10 yr old daughter has epilepsy but it seems like something else is going on in addition. She is extremely huggy and touchy, unexplained weight gain (eats healthy), has daytime sleepiness, stays on her own conversation subject even after we've moved on, insists on subtitles being turned on the TV, needs consistent schedule, short-term memory loss, sticks strange things in her mouth like headphone cord, bracelets, her ponytail etc. The list goes on but I don't want to bore anyone. Does anyone have suggestions as to what's going on?

It is hard to say it could be the learning disability. Its hard to say if it's normal behavior for her epilepsy ,maybe you can try to track when she does these things to see if there is a pattern to her behavior. Let me know how it goes. Good luck

Thanks so much, Robyn. Not offended at all...yes, she is happy but does seem to have learning disabilities. Is all this just normal epilepsy behaviors? Thanks for any feedback you can share.

Some children with epilepsy are socially immature and look for extra attention at home. I have epilepsy since age 2 so I understand your child is she happy or is there a possibility of some depression? I hope I am not offending by bringing these things up. Does your child have a learning disability? A lot of children including myself can have even amild learning disability due to the epilepsy, have you ever had your child tested?
These are just some things to think about. It will get better. FYI I have been seizure free since 1993. Good luck if you want someone to talk to I am here.
