Is the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland too much for my 5 year old

My daughter's father thinks she is way to young to ride the haunted mansion at Disneyland! He told me he has asked all his friends and that it is just too scary. Her favorite movie is Nightmare before Christmas and I was planning on taking her to Disneyland to see the Haunted Mansion all decorated with Nightmare stuff. What do you think?

Our first trip to Disney my daughter was 3, she did fine was a little put off in the beginning but that's it. We went again this summer she is now 6 and she did fine. We also had our 2 year old with us and she was enjoyed it as well. They make it to be more of fun thing than scary.

I took my 4 year ol daughter on it and she loved it - my son was 6 at the time and he was a little scared but he was pretty scared of everything - if her favourite film id nightmare before christmas I would say she should be fine - most of it's funny rather than scary.

My daughter went on it when she was 4ish, she loved it especially when the ghost was in the cart with us. My son (five at the time) didn't want anything to do with it just because of the name. He went in a car with daddy and wanted to go again and again.

Here is what Disney has to say about it...

Is This Too Scary for Little Souls?
Some of your smaller souls — not to mention those who might be afraid of the dark — might find the mansion more frightful than delightful.
Guest Policies
Supervise children at all times. Children under age 7 years must be accompanied by a person age 14 years or older.
The ride itself is gentle, but young children may be frightened by the special effects.

Thank you! My daughter is really not scared of anything , my 9 1/2 year old son is the one that screams like a girl when he sees a spider and he 1st went on it when he was almost 3. I know she won't have a problem it is just that her father asked all his "friends" if she was too young and so I wanted to get a idea if I was crazy or if he was being a little over protective.

I was scared to death of it at 4. I hid in my mom's side the entire time. It was dark and there were stange noises everywhere.

The ride goes quicker now though. So they are in the dark less and it doesn't keep them in each area as long.

I disagree. First of all IT'S DISNEYLAND! And I find that haunted houses that she has gone thru when trick or treating where more scary than Disney's Haunted Mansion. I thank you for your comment but I still don't see how it is too scary for her.

I would say yes. it's too scary. My 5 year old would be scared out of her wits. I was scared at 9. Watching a movie and actually being exposed to it are 2 different things IMO.
