Is there a community for step-moms who can't have birth children?

[deleted account] ( 6 moms have responded )

I've chosen to marry a man who has three children and who does not, at this time, and probably for all time, does not want anymore children. I have accepted this with much sadness. Is there a support group for people like me?

Lisa,
Become a member of the step-moms community. It should be listed as one of the hot topics or at least on the first page of topics being discussed.

Megan - you're fortunate. I know we're still a new family, but I wish they'd think of me as their mom. Their real mom is such a mental case. Anyway, I couldn't access the link - it said only members can access the link.

Lisa,

I can setup a conversational post in Step-moms for us.

Well the girls don't like to call me Step-mom. And I don't ever refer to them as my stepkids. They are my kids! Their mom is still in the picture, but I'm more of a mom to them. They come to me for everything and ask me for advice, help, etc.

Thanks, Krista and Megan.
Megan, if there is a way to set up a community for step-moms who can't have biological children (or have chosen not to) that would be absolutely wonderful. I can also look elsewhere on the net for support. I was just wondering if I could get all my Mama stuff here. :) I'm envious that you don't use the word "Step" in your house. I think we always will, just because we're so new as a family and their bio-mom is still in the picture. Can I ask how your family came to not use "step?"

Much appreciated,

Lisa

I just joined the step-moms group and get encouragement from them. Although most of them do have biological or adopted children as well. I do hear you though. I just accept his daughters as mine. We don't ue the word step in our house.

I'm sure with in the step mom community we could set up a conversation about Step-Moms who can't have biological children and how that affects us.
