Yeah.my daughter was born with severe meconium aspiration and we lost her. It was a devastating blow to both of us.she is our first girl.it just happened last month.my wife also diagnosed with infection to her uterus and caused severe bleeding.she survived.MAS is serious condition and scary. In my case, most probably caused by overdue. My wife was overdue for 9days and go for induced delivery. Until now we still don't know the TRUE causes. Just prevent overdue and trust your own instinct. We miss our baby.

THey said he was going to be fine and he has other then he has always had a really horse voice we are going in to check it out this month we never thought anythign of it. I am guessing its due to the damage at birth and comments on this i am really worried???

You are so right.  It is a serious condition and it has many problems that could come later on as the child matures.  You would think now a days babies wouldn't go through that with all the technologies that are around today.  You had good doctors, who let you know the truth about what the out come could be.  I wish you all the best, with your special little guy.

I am so sorry to hear that. The fustrating thing after he was born anyone you talked to about meconium asperation says their baby had it and it was no big deal. The doctors warned us of the many out comes including the one you unfortunately had. people have no idea how serious it can be.

I am so happy that your son is doing well.  My daughter is now 23 years old, but looks like she is about 10.  She is on full life-support and has been since birth.  She is also blind and deaf.  My daughter also has Asthma and severe lung damage.

My first son was born with a severe case of it where we almost lost him and he was on standby for a flight to a hospital who had a lung bypass machine. Luckily we didn't have to go down that road but he was in the neonatal until on two different respirators and had several surfactant treatments. After a month he was home on portable oxygen for about another month. Then he was in a year follow up developmental program for a year for shoulder and neck stiffness. He is now 7 and thank God only has mild asthma form the lung damage.
