My HCG levels Thursday Jan 6th was at 262 Today Monday January 10th my levels are at 805. I am 5 wks and 2 days pregnant. Is there still hope for this baby of mine? Because people have told me that with my hcg levels being that low that I would most likely going to have a miscarriage...

Well, while they are low, the thing is they are increasing... and when you do the 72hr HCG test, they look for the numbers to tripple. The only one who can realy give you answers is your doctor, but if you think they arn't giving you the answers you need. Get a new one. In the mean time, keep yourself on light activites. No jumping, or pulling(vaccuming, etc) drink TONS of water, eat whenever you are hungry, and don't stress about it. Stress can make you miscarry, if nothing else would have. Im actually speaking from a VERY similar situation here, and hope you don't miscarry. But, if you feel any lower back pains, cramping, blurry vision, or feel faint. You need to go in.

HCG levels rise during the first 8 to 10 weeks of pregnancy then decline slowly for the second and third trimesters. The following presents some average expected HCG levels based on time after conception:

First week: 0-50 mIU/ml

1-2 weeks: 40-300 mIU/ml

3-4 weeks: 500-6,000 mIU/ml

1-2 months: 5,000-200,000 mIU/ml

2-3 months: 10,000-100,000 mIU/ml

2nd trimester: 3,000-50,000 mIU/ml

3rd trimester: 1,000-50,000 mIU/ml

I am assuming your 5 weeks and 2 days is calculated from your LMP? Which means you are 3-4 weeks after conception? At 3-4 weeks after conception, normal is anything between 500 and 6,000 according to this chart.

The hcG levels are increasing like they should, but are pretty low. Is there a chance that you aren't as far along as you think you are?

The numbers rising like that would be a good sign and Jodi's chart provides some reassurance.

Miscarriage is always a possibility, but it isn't one you should spend time worrying about since the stress would be even more harmful. Just take it easy!

I would just be aware of the reality that you COULD lose the baby but hope and pray that you don't. Do everything that the doctors tell you to do and hope for the best.

you are in my prayers.
