Okay, well. I had an IUD (Mirena) inserted in September of 2014. It is now November 2015 and last month the IUD literally just came out. My boyfriend and I had sex, afterwards noticed lots of pain and cramping and the next day the strings were hanging out. One little tug, and poof there it is. I immediately went to the ER where the nurses were less than helpful (no one believed that it came out on it's own, and they basically said there was nothing they could do about it). Quick exam to check for infection or damage, and sent me home. I called my ob/gyn, can't get an appointment until December. Here's the thing though.....the day after, I had quite a bit of bleeding which was expected. Then it stopped, and now I'm having--drumroll please--pregnancy symptoms! WONDERFUL. Everyone keeps telling me it's highly unlikely especially because I had the hormonal IUD, but I know that sperm can live up to 3-5 days. I can't get any kind of doctor's appointment for another month, but I'm tired, queasy, bloated, and emotional. My breasts are hurting too. Obviously the only thing to do is wait, and maybe pick up an at-home test. But I wanted to ask if anyone else has had anything similar happen? Has anyone gotten pregnant after an IUD came out? I'm a bit worried because I always tend to be that 5% that has crazy things happen to them (e.g. My firstborn son was conceived during my period, wth).
